The town of Vang Vieng seems to Be most popular due to its fame for tubing down river stopping at bars on the way and smoking wacky baccy. Due to the large number of serious accidents and people losing their lives (one a month!) the government have closed all of the bars along the stretch, so now people take their own beers…

We decided not to try the tubing as instead we wanted to get away that afternoon to vientiane for a day before heading to Siem Riep and the famous Angkor Wat.
