12th – 14th Nov – Pulau Penang

We arrived at the Star guest house which was suggested by Leo an interesting character from the Rainbow Lodge by 9 that evening, we soon headed for food at a great food market area just down the road. That evening we phoned home to wish Nikki and Sam a happy birthday.
The next day we explored by foot Goergetown the area we were staying. Penang is small Island but very built up with many hotels, guest houses and antique shops. We went into little India and had a great lunch the food in Malaysia really is amazing. We relaxed in the guest house for a bit in the afternoon before exploring some more in the evening.
Next day we hired a motorbike and as we do explored further a field, riding around the Island to see what we can find. It was surprising to see how built up the Island really is. We relaxed for a while in the afternoon before exploring a little more before we returned the bike, we found a Tesco and because we hadn’t found anywhere to buy sun cream we had to stop, we thought it was funny being in Tesco in Malaysia.
That evening we went back into a little art gallery we popped into the day before to have a better look, we ended up going to a big Chinese dinner fest with the owners of the gallery Clovis and Joey they were a lovely couple and we had a great evening at the local Chinese town hall having a 10 course meal! It was so funny as we were the only westerners there and we couldn’t understand a word that people were saying, really was an experience!
The next day we were up early ish to make our way down to Pangkor a quite little Island.
