It’s been a while since I have blogged so I need to catch up on what we have been up to. Since leaving Sukhothai we went back down to Phitsanulok to catch a night train, there was a lovely little food market there so we spent some time going round and getting various foods it was very tasty! We finally boarded the night train around 1.30, it was due at 12. We managed to get some sleep before seeing the hordes of people waiting at the station trying to get you to go to their guest house, we already had an idea of where we wanted to go as we wanted a place with a pool. We boarded a tuk tuk with a very friendly lady who turned out to be very helpful as the guest houses we wanted where all ready fully booked, she drove us round to a couple of places before she took us to a nice cheap place with a pool.
Once we had settled and had a swim in the pool we wandered round to get our bearings and soon found the night market area, which was pretty much the same as all the night markets. We found a nice little bar close to our guest house and enjoyed some lovely red wine before heading for bed.
The following day we went to a lovely place for breakfast called bubbles live, after that we hired bikes and had a fantastic day cycling round seeing amazing sights, meeting lovely people and eating gorgeous food. That evening we decided to book a tour to go a play with elephant’s unfortunately we couldn’t book Patara which was recommend as it was fully booked for the time we where there so we settled for Baan Chang elephant park. We had a great day learning about the elephant’s, feeding, riding, bathing and cleaning them. That evening we wandered the streets looking for interesting places to go, we found John’s place which by the name sounds a little plain but it had a great roof terrace and more amazing food. Here we got chatting to a nice American guy who now lives in Chiang Mai, he works in a local shop selling the locals hand craft, so of course we had to go and see and there were lovely pieces of work, Matt and I really liked one particular statue which of course was expensive and it would have to be shipped back. We didn’t buy it but have his email address so we could still buy at a later date if we decide too.
The following day we went to see one more wat in the mountains which would have fantastic views if it wasn’t so misty. We then hopped on a bus to continue our journey north to Chiang Rai.
